The free training course targeted graduates of technical colleges aged 20–25, aiming to strengthen their technical knowledge and practical skills in renewable energy, with a particular focus on solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and their applications.
The training was delivered by Dr. Waleed Kukhun and Eng. Ahmad Husen, who combined theoretical knowledge with practical examples and applications relevant to the Palestinian context.
The training programme covered a range of topics related to renewable energy and solar PV systems. The first session introduced participants to renewable energy and its different types, with a focus on solar and wind energy and other renewable energy sources. Participants were also introduced to the main components of solar PV systems, as well as maintenance practices and safety measures.
The second training session focused on the design of solar PV systems, in addition to grounding and electric shock protection. Participants explored the technical principles involved in designing solar systems and the importance of appropriate grounding and electrical safety measures.
The third session addressed the installation of off-grid and hybrid solar PV systems, providing participants with practical insights into system components, including solar panels, batteries, charge controllers, inverters, and electrical connections. The session also highlighted installation requirements and maintenance practices.
The final session included practical and hands-on training and applications, allowing participants to further develop their technical understanding through practical exercises related to solar PV systems, grounding, solar radiation measurement, and electrical connections.
Throughout the training, participants actively engaged with the trainers through discussions and questions related to the implementation of renewable energy systems in Palestine, including practical installation requirements, maintenance, licensing procedures, and employment opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
The training also highlighted the growing importance of renewable energy technologies in supporting the transition towards green jobs and sustainable energy solutions, particularly by equipping young technical graduates with skills aligned with emerging labour market needs.
The organization of this training course reflects An-Najah National University’s commitment to developing the technical and professional capacities of young people and supporting their employability in emerging green sectors. It also contributes to the objectives of the TECGREMED project, which seeks to promote energy and green employment opportunities across the Mediterranean region.
TECGREMED – Towards Energy and Green Jobs in the Mediterranean is implemented within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme, supporting skills development, innovation, and employment opportunities in the green energy sector.
